also does dorms on west campus or something have AC for the hot spring/summer and perhaps maybe fall? And do they have heaters during the winter time?

heat is very nice (better than what off campus offers)

but AC is not available in any dorm rooms…

yes, A/C is offered in Court-Kay-Bauer and Mews Hall on North Campus, as well as the 5 new houses on West.

Ohh so there is AC on the west campus housing? Good!!

thought the AC wasnt in the rooms per se?

So I’m really torn here; I really want a single, but at the same time I really want to be in one of the newer houses (Mews/Court-Kay-Bauer), and I heard that those are pretty much all doubles.

What are the chances of getting a single in Mews/Court-Kay-Bauer?

Also, if I put double am I pretty much guaranteed a spot in one of these newer houses?

Finally, is there anyway to put a request in for one of these houses?

^ i want the same thing!

You can try to note it on your housing application, but they do not accomodate student wishes.

Also, chances of getting a single in Mews/CKB is pretty slim.
Even if you request a double, you will more than likely not get one in Mews/CKB. There are 270 kids in CKB and 300 or so in Mews. More than likely not to get one of these.

Sorry guys, sometimes you can’t have it all.

i still dont know: single or double???
does anyone have pictures of the interior of the dorms?

Is there any way to switch once you get up there? Not specifically the building, but just the type of dorm?

Eg: I put Double on right now, get up there, and then try and switch to single?

roneald…housing doesnt work like majors…it’s harder to switch…

i would call now and try to see about a single…but why the sudden change of heart? while you might not be friends with your roomate…it’s a great networking opportunity and such…

Hahahaha it actually had nothing to do with my roomate it was just if I get a double in one of the older dorms I’d rather just have a single in an old dorm.

I’d rather have a single the only reason I really want a double is there’s a greater chance of getting one of the newer dorms.

doubles are actually bigger in high rises and low rises than they are in mews/court/kay/bauer…

Yeah but size isn’t as big of an issue for me as is how nice the dorms actually are.

can we have our own coffee machine in our dorm?

Hey if anyone was wondering even if you request a double but you get a single, you still have to pay the price of a single over a double.
I’m only noting because i remember this question being asked several times on different dorm threads and people were saying If you request a single and get it you pay for it, but if You request a double and get a single, you pay for a double. that is not true.
I found it on the Cornell housing faq:
"I was assigned to a single room, but I requested a double. Do I have to pay the higher rate?

Yes, but you may apply for a room change and note that issue on the room change form. If you receive Financial Aid, you should contact your counselor to see if any adjustments can be made."

this is kinda out of topic but how do you accept roommate requests?
The email tells me to go to the portal (and not really knowing which portal I need to go to) so I went to the housing portal and logged in but nothing came up. Help?

try going to the application part of it where you filled out your preferences and stuff. its in one of the tabs there i believe

go to the tab where it asks you if you want to search for roommates by details, or finding one that matches. under that part, you will see the request and you can either accept or reject.
