Which dorms have communal bathrooms?

On the Cornell Housing website, it just says "rooms are arranged in corridors with shared bathrooms." what exactly does that mean? I know that in Awkekon, the bathrooms are shared, but each bathroom is one shower, one toilet, and one sink, with a lockable door.

Which dorms (for freshman in north campus) actually have communal bathrooms, ones with more than one shower and toilet stall?

I haven’t been in all of them but I can confirm that Balch has communal bathrooms. anyone else?

How often are they cleaned? /:

Communal bathrooms aren’t all that bad. You get used to them quickly. The main thing that bothers me about them are the idiots who don’t flush the toilet/**** all over the seats.

Dickson and Donlon have the kind of bathrooms you’re thinking about

Communal bathrooms aren’t horrible, they’re cleaned as well as possible with many different students using them per day [one of whom is probably a slob]. They can get gross at times, but just keep your shower shoes on at ALL times and you’ll be okay.

And I only know of communal bathrooms in Donlon & Dickson.

Risley has co-ed bathrooms

The High Rises (High Rise 5 and Jameson) have bathrooms that are shared in “suites” (which are more like glorified hallways), where 7 people share a bathroom. 2 sinks, 1 shower, 1 toilet, though you can access the shower and sinks when someone else is in the toilet stall.

Oh dear me! Yuck!

C’mon soon to be Cornellians! forty percent of the world doesn’t live with clean running water. Get real.

^^But does that forty percent pay 60k a year for the experience?

^ word.

Thanks for the input, guys. I’m ranking program houses before the residence hall option. I like the feel of a program house more, hopefully I’ll get my first program house choice.

I think most of the communal restrooms that are used by entire halls are washed twice a week (like say Monday and Thursday).

sometimes I think the bathrooms are gross, but I don’t feel like it’s going to make me ill, and I can deal like a grown up.

communal restrooms could be a big deal for people with medical conditions that might make them use the restroom more frequently, more urgently, or in some other way that’s not typical. if someone’s concerned about something, and you think it’s no big deal, consider that your experiences with it might not be exactly the same.
