Single Room

How hard is it to get one? Is it already too late? The rate plan shows that its only 1k more compared to double room. I believe only two residence halls have them, for their names. Which residence hall is better if I were to choose a single room?

Probably Manzanita Village. The place is super nice, but you wouldn’t necessarily be on a floor with all freshmen. Which could kinda suck. Its not too late btw. Housing vacancy is constantly changing as people find different options to choose from. Generally, you wanna submit your dorm preferences early, but seeing as how some people haven’t even submitted their SIRs yet, I’d say you’re ok. I’m in San Miguel and they have 3 singles per floor. Each floor has something like 13 or 14 rooms total, and not many people apply to stay in San Mig. I think. I haven’t really heard about anyone not getting a single if they really want it.

@indier

Really? I’ve heard the opposite. Various students I have spoken to requested singles and even opted into a sort of housing ‘waitlist’ for whenever anyone left a vacant single room after the start of the school year. Only a handful actually got anything.

I don’t wanna be downer, but it might just come down to luck. At this stage, you probably have a good chance of getting a single if you submitted your SIR and Housing contract. If not, you can also opt into a housing waitlist, but don’t expect with certainty that you might get a single. UCSB has been having trouble with housing students, spots are hard to come by.

@NotYetEngineer

You know that sounds about right. I haven’t heard of any problems specifically regarding acquiring singles, but housing can be quite a hassle. IV is over crowded and people try to get what they can to be comfortable.
