Single Space or Double Space The Common Application Essay?

Which one is better?
I can fit mine perfectly on 1 page when it is single spaced

anyone have any input?

I suggest double-spaced as I used with my essays. Overall, it makes your writing easier to read.

Any other imput please?

Matisyahu,
I really just recommend going with a double-spaced essay. I saw your topic in the other section.

Double spacing is preferred by almost everyone because it makes it easier for read. I work in the enrollment management office at my school and file the essays all day long, and the good majority are double spaced. It’s safe to assume that 1" margins all around, double spaced, as if you were writing an MLA-format essay, would be preferred. Times New Roman, 12pt, double spaced, 1" margins and 0pt margins before/after paragraphs.

Even letters of recommendations are written in double space, if they are typed.

Double-spacing is a relic of the days of typewriters, when each typed letter was the same width. In my opinion, it should not be used…although many people still prefer it, because they think it is more readable.
