Single vs. Double

I am trying to decide what type of living arrangement I should try to get next year. I like the idea of living in a single because of the privacy, but I'm worried about the social aspect. When I visited Cornell, I noticed a lot of people living in singles. This didn't make them less social; it actually made the hall a much tighter community. Is this the case at Duke or it is odd to live in a single?

Would trying to get a single limit my options for where I could live?

All the dorms, as far as I know, have singles.
As long as you make an effort to meet people, having a single won't hinder your social life, a lot of people get them.

Singles are GREAT! Seriously, it seems almost like the people who have singles have a better time simply because they get to choose when they want people in their room/when they want to study, who they want in their room, etc. It also seems like people go to friends who have singles more often than friends who have doubles when they're not really friends w/ the roommate when they want to relax. I honestly see no downfall to a single.

i'm thinking about a triple haha

"i'm thinking about a triple haha"

me too!!

triple or nothing!! =P

I stayed in a single room when I traveled to Germany for about 10 days, and I personally didn't like it. .. but i love when friends live alone cuz u can visit them whenever and of course there is more freedom..
