Singles in IV?

Hey everyone, committed to Northeastern yesterday as a CS major in the Honors program! Super excited, it's my first choice school, and I'm in love with it beyond belief.

I know that most of the dorms are standard doubles, but I've read that people have had singles in IV as honors freshmen? If that is correct, what are the odds that you get one if you request it? I'd like a single because although I'm a pretty social guy, I like the idea of having a place where I can lock the door and it's mine and mine only when I want it. I don't know if it's something in demand, so even if you ask for it, you probably won't get it, or if no one wants them, so if you request it, it's yours. Guessing the truth is somewhere between the two, but any advice you have would be much appreciated! Paid my housing deposit already, so should be fairly early in the process for when they assign rooms.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

IV rooms are singles mostly so if you requested for one you’ll most likely get one. I lived in an IV single my freshman year and really liked it!

All of the upperclass rooms in IV are singles. All of the doubles in it go to Honors freshmen. I suspect, though, that if you request a single you will get it. I requested a double my freshman year and they gave me a single.

Thanks guys! Sounds like I shouldn’t have a major problem getting a single. Super excited for Northeastern, and this forum has only increased that!

To current Northeastern U students here, would you guys recommend against Single IV dorms? Any regrets from those who’ve had it?

My daughter had a single and enjoyed having the privacy - although shy she made lots of friends.

Reason not to go for the single: price. Housing is already not cheap, and if you are looking to not pay even more, then go for a double.

How big is the price difference between a single and a double in IV?

A single in IV is $4760 while a double is $4070. This is according to the information posted on the housing section of Northeastern’s website.
