Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Woo Hoo Sybbie!!! Couldn’t happened to a better person!!! Yay!!! Sooo, whats’ next???

I’d like to raise a glass to the passing of an 89-year-old friend. WWII vet, a pretty good singer with style and rhythm, and all-around nice guy, loved by many.

Someone I wish I had known far longer than I did.

Chicka chicka boom boom!

For Chicky and her mom, a reference to one of my favorite kids’ books from our toddler era!

Congrats!

pulling my people up from page 4 (while trying the tip that wash dad gave about making a bold statement by simply highlighting and pressing <ctrl>b (it seems to have worked)</ctrl>

Has it been too hor to post or are we knocking out a few circuits when we turn on the computer and a couple of other things??

I am soo grateful that it is finally starting to cool off.

Barkeep, a nice frosty one, not too much alcohol.

Well, I just got back from my 2nd crew clinic. Decided D was having way too much fun doing crew, so when I saw the article about novice clinics, I couldn’t resist. The good news – I’m not the oldest one there!

Ice water for me, please!

Belated congrats to you and your daughter Sybbie! I’m relieve too that the heat wave is over, though at the expense of my tomato plants I’m sorry to say. The wind flung the pots around the yard. I’ve righted them and given them lots of water, and hope that they’ll be all right. I think there’s just one that might not make it.

Well, I’ve had two WONDERFUL WONDERFUL weeks with both boys at home. It’s been just superb having them both here, with Older Son setting up a fantabulous digital audio-video center in our living room, and helping me put together an architectural plan for gutting a small old “study” room in our house and turning it into a combination computer/wine storage room. He’s visited high school and summer college friends here, done the requisite beach trips and city trips and playing pool with us, done some photography, read books, made strong connections with his Younger Brother, and just generally warmed my heart. For someone who’s struggled in the past couple years, he’s doing so well and I feel a soaring sensation when I envision his future.

In an hour, I’ll be taking him to the airport. Somehow this two-week visit which has warmed my soul so greatly is making it bittersweet to send him off this time.

It never gets any easier, does it.

A toast to parenthood, and to our amazing, irrepressible, and beloved children.

Yay for Mootson! Hip hip hurray!

I need a cold frosty one, btw. Tough band practice tonight, getting ready for a summer of outdoor concerts. He’s trying to kill us…

bold
works for italics too!
Cool.
and underline :)

Thanks, sybbie!

Yay, everyone! Congrats!
I’m so glad D’s graduation was indoors! I’m reading in the paper that it is warmer in Siberia than here in Seattle! Yikes. I’m ready to turn on my fireplace. I need a big mug of that hot spiced wine.

Crew? Someone is taking up crew?

I have hope for us all as we dodder along.

Oh yes, Alumother, there is always hope! You’ll notice I said I wasn’t the oldest one at the clinics – I didn’t mention anything about speed & strength! But there’s always the “Masters” category. And isn’t there a “Seniors/Masters” Olympics?

Oh, and in the anonymity of CC, I can also safely say I’m not the most uncoordinated one, either!

A friend chased down a hit and run driver around 5:35 pm yesterday. He heard the first collision, turned around to see the next and then a car
(smashed hood) made a U-turn across three lanes of northbound traffic in
order to turn east. With my ex running after the car, keeping it in sight, the
driver made a right turn onto (you guessed it) a dead end street! Thereby
he was able to get the license plate number, a handy thing, when the guy
turned around and came back, and drove off. The best part, my friend was running on a prosthetic leg. Some criminals just can’t catch a break.

Great story, Cottonwood.

bumping from page three purgatory

TJFS is now officially TSFS.

Littlest boy heading off to middle school.

Maybe I want to take up crew? CBBB do they let you wear gloves in the Masters? Don’t want to have shredded palms…

SB – I have no idea! Total crew newbie here. Only been to 2 clinics so far, so haven’t gotten to the shredded palms part. 5 more sessions to go.

When youngest S goes to one-week Engineering Camp on Sunday, all 4 kids will be in different states. Yikes!

An empty nest, and no plans. Have to do something about that… ;)

CBBB, if you start to feel even a tingle, get gloves.

aaaaaaah. Just poured a wee bit of scotch and brought it over to drink it here.

I shouldn’t have done it, but I counted today: I have been to work every day, except for one day over Mem day weekend, for the last 3.5 weeks.

I think I am tired!! Pity Party!!! OK. Done.

I did receive a wonderful IM from DS last weekend in which he thanked his dad and me for doing “such a good job” raising him. Awwwww. He went into detail, bless his usually taciturn heart, and I couldn’t have been more gratified.

To good kids!!!

To all kids!!!

CBBB-

I suggest you don’t wait for tingles! By then the blisters are probably starting. Get gloves.

mafool -

There is hope for taciturn sons? Some day they actually say something in detail? And it is heartwarming?

Is this contagious? Can I get my TS (taciturn son) over to your house for a play date, kind of like taking them to get exposed to chicken pox?
