Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

LOL!
You’ll notice that these heartwarming words were sent via instant message, and not spoken! (I then copied them to a Word doc so I could save the evidence.)

Hallmark Card Father’s Day Moment:

My Dad: Hello?

Me: Hi, Happy Father’s Day!

My Dad: Who is this?

Oh. My. God.

SB – way too funny! I can only hope this doesn’t happen when I call my Dad tonight.

Ah, SBmom, hope you aren’t an only child!
I’ve called my dad three times since yesterday and missed him every time. We don’t talk often, partly because I’m nine time zones away and it’s just hard to work it sometimes…and I’m one of nine, so he probably would have asked who it was if I had caught him on Father’s Day. Guess I’ll try again soon.

jmmom: my taciturn and usually incommunicado S actually called Monday night! He’s an instructor at computer camp and is working hard. He just wanted to touch base with home sweet home, I guess. :)

For Father’s Day he was tied up all day, so sent Dad an email at 11:30 at night. Glad he didn’t call!

Wow. Awfully quiet around these parts…
DH should be coming home late tonight- He and DS #1 moved DS and his stuff into DS’s apartment. Ironically, both DS and DH start new jobs on Monday. Time to celebrate. One s is off the payroll!!

Quiet: Maybe quite a few are at the SAT today.

^^^ Oh, I didn’t realize it was SAT day today. So glad to be out of that loop!! I thought maybe it was quiet because everyone was out buying decorations and presents for my upcoming big, double digit, over-the-hill b’day next week ;)

Exactly what day should we celebrate, jym?

Or should we just celebrate all week for this big event? I’m cool with that.

You guessed it, jym626–I’ve been out gathering every drink umbrella and boa in town!

When’s the party, exactly? I keep forgetting…

Mafool and mommusic-
Have you been hittin’ the Boone’s Farm already, or are you a well seasoned senior citizen like I am and have no memory (I call it meno-brain). Either way.. small hint – take a peek at my screenname for your party planning. Where are we again???

Yep, full-fledged meno brain here, also called some-timers disease, having passed that nice, round, divisible-by-ten birthday some time ago!

Hey mafool, congratulations on hitting post #11111.

Something tells me we’ll be celebrating jym’s birthday next week! Happy Birthday jym!!

How nice! Same day as child #3’s birthday! He’ll be 20…I am sending a care package of birthday candy & other stuff so he can celebrate with his young campers.

Serendipitous day! :)

Wow!! Post 11111. How cool is that!?!?!?!

Ma fool-- I passed that “divisible by 10” one several years ago too. This one is divisible by 11 :o

Mommusic- Happy bday to your s!! Do you need my address for my care package too? I’ll bet yours are great care packages!

Help-- senior moment again. Who is our esteemed friend and colleague and fellow SA’er in France? Her mom’s b’day is the same day too.

LImomof2-
Looking forward to the celebrations with my cc buds!! Bring on the chocolate bread!

I’m right behind you, sista!

When’s your’s mafool?? We can all celebrate together.
DS emailed yesterday that he’d done a ton of reasearch and found this incredibly great deal on this obscenely huge (well its seems huge to me-- its 42") HDTV. He was heading out today to get it. So, guess what I also got for my bday? I figured with all the research he did, it had to be a great deal and of good quality. I mentioned to DH that DS was heading off (in is new city) to get one, and .. since we had been talking about it for a long time, why not benefit from DS’s research. Poof. Done. Bday present is now sitting in the family room. Now we need digital cable and a new piece of furniture to put it on. Maybe it wasn’t such a good deal after all… cha-ching. More money falling out of the wallet…But-- anyone got something they want to watch on this behemouth?? It’ll look good in the back of SA…

Well, not all that close; I was just being kind to a senior citizen!! Mine’s in February.

As to your behemoth of a TV, let’s gather to watch the Olympics this summer. I’ll be without a TV for most of August. Would love to come here to watch…

I wouldn’t mind having a larger TV just for watching movies. They are looking increasingly lame on our smallish, almost square screen. (oh the horror!)

When the new law takes effect we will either have to get a decoder box, a new TV, or stop watching altogether. Not that we watch much anyway. But it would be worth getting a big screen for the movies we rent.

True confessions–. Now that we have this big thing, we have to upgrade from cable to digital to make the pic go to widescreen. Right now we are seeing a square pic in our rectangular screen. DS watched a rental (episode of “weed” - I am so proud.. NOT) and it was also not cut to fit the full screen. Why’d we waste all this money???

Oh and mafool-- February will roll around soon enough… happy double nickels in advance!
