Is it sweet and heavy like stout? Or hoppy?

Sweet & heavy. I'm not a big drinker anyway so a small glass of this is just enough for me. I don't know how it is calorie-wise, but it seems really dense, compared to lighter beers.

mommusic-
Since when do we worry about calories in SA? We drink the good stuff and the rotgut. Phooey on calorie-counting.

^^Oh, I quite agree. I never concern myself with calories anyway; it just seemed like a rather rich beer.

Anyway, it's delicious! IMO.

Down six pounds since beginning of the year; six more to go. I owe it all to sensible eating, a treadmill and Wii Fit.

And I had a nice pint of hard cider today...

^^ Congrats!!! I will share in the revelry with you-- 10 lbs down- 5 to go. I lost the first 7 on a formal diet (which I stuck to for about 2 mos). The next 3 was pure stress. I have been sitting at my current weight for a week or so b/c my DH is reminding me to eat. I do want to take advantage of the stress and lose those last 5 lbs....

1,000th post!

Pour me some hot tea, please. I have a head cold.

Well, maybe some rum in it would help. ;)

Bump. Because I ain't going all the way away until SBmom comes here, bellies up to the bar, and tells us her boy is going to one of those institutions that cannot be named. SBmom, we're with you. It's a little early here in CA, so perhaps a dainty Mimosa....

And congrats to you mommusic.

Thanks, alu.

We had an empty nest this weekend, with S away at state Latin convention. Wouldn't you know it, we were both under the weather so we spent the weekend like an old couple, sitting around under throws, drinking hot tea, and/or sleeping. :)

Bump.

Today is Square Root Day! 3/3/09.

Busy cutting up carrots into squares to garnish the drinks of math geeks. They look cute on those little swords...

now, if you can figure out how to cut up square roots of negative numbers, please share!!

I'd have to be really drunk to attempt that...

ok. What's a negative root vegetable? We'll cut squares of those.

Any veg you don't like? It doesn't exist! :)

I have a friend who calls eggplant & zucchini "vegetables of affliction."

Hello SA! This must be the place to come when you realize--wow, H out of town..I dined out on a school night, had a Silver Coin Margarita with a dear friend since there is no one home who needed AP Calc questions answered! This is a fine time Empty Nest!

Welcome, fauve. And yes, folks with full nests can come here to the Alley for that divine empty nest feeling. There is no such thing as AP Calc in the Alley. Most of us couldn't answer the questions anyway. So that is why we have un-invented it.

Thanks jmmom, I'm happy to have a new hang out ! Never even considered I could have wandered in, in years past (how racy!)

un-invented calc = no such thing as square roots of negative numbers!!!!!

Hooray! Drinks for all with nice, round garnishes.

Yes, the square garnishes are fine for a novelty, but we really prefer the round olives & onions anyway. Well-pickled. ;)

^^^like us!
