Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 2)

Were these wineries in Washington State? We are going to be in the San Francisco area in October and are thinking of hitting up a few wineries while we are there. Last time we did Pinot Noir in the Monterrey area, and we’ve had fun in both Sonoma and Napa in the past.

Oh, how I love (the drink called) Hummers! I didn’t realize that they were invented in Detroit. H worked at a restaurant in Auburn Hills in high school, and the bartender there made the best Hummers. We visited the restaurant often in college, when the drinking age was 18! When we got married, our blender got quite the workout making Hummers for our friends. Those were the days … now I worry too much about the fat, sugar & calories in a Hummer. So dry red wine, it is!

Good old days. Mr. thought Manischewitz (sp?) was a fine wine. :joy:

I think you all are dredging up too many memories–white russian (first real drink), margaritas (my parents friends LOVED them and the first one I ever tried), tequila was fortunately other’s horrible memories but I do remember the night vividly (I knew better). I loved Bartle and James coolers–I introduced those to my mom–she liked them too.

So the other day husband wanted simple syrup for Old Fashions and I said I could make him some–no need to buy it. He said he had tried making it before but it wasn’t good and not the consistency of the store bought. I told him that he had the wrong degree–I’m a pharmacist–I was trained specifically to do this! (I do make a mean simple syrup). Cheers!

Manischewitz Concord Grape at seders growing up is probably why I still don’t like red wine.

Now a nice rum drink with triple sec, maraschino liquor, lime juice, and simple syrup - oh wait, that’s the Beachcomber cocktail I took to the back yard cookout last weekend! And drank the leftover bit out at the pool during the week. It just needed another dash of rum…

Long Island Iced Tea was a big 80s drink for my crowd (and yes I did grow up in LI).

We also drank (cheap) wine because a local wine & cheese place let us in with a HS ID.

So, I think I posted on the wrong thread that our son called the other night to introduce us to the corgi beagle he adopted from a friend who needed to re-home his pet. He thought it would be good company for his soon-to-be-fiance while he is in Qatar for six months. The dog’s name is “Penny.”

GF is highly allergic to cats, so I thought they’d never have a pet. A dog is a poor substitute for a cat, but what can you do? :woman_shrugging:

He traded in his Mustang for a Mazda sedan, he plans to propose to the GF before deploying, and now he has a dog! :woman_facepalming:

This adulting is killing me. Where’s the blender…?

Midori Sours!

We spent most of the day helping our daughter move to her new apartment. Two of her good friends also helped. My husband and I took the three young people out to a good restaurant called Margarita’s. And yes, they do make excellent margaritas!
