Sixth College CAT Series P/F?

I'm hearing that some GEs in sixth college (especially the CAT writing series) typically only have a negative impact on GPA.

Should GEs like the CAT be taken as a P/F class to prevent any drops in GPA?

Also, can anyone give a better explanation as to why it would be ideal to have no P/F classes and take a letter grade for everything instead?

Many classes cannot be taken P/NP if you wish them to count toward GEs, major, or minors.

Additionally, to graduate, less than 25% of your units must have been P/NP.

you’re a GENIUS for thinking of P/F option for the CAT series… but sadly you can’t do that for CAT 1 & 2. You can take it for pass/fail option for CAT 3 though. Just wait until spring quarter you can do it :)

oh and some GEs are just way too easy to be taken for pass/fail. the only time you use that option is when your’e like an arts major or something liek that and you have to take a science class (even if the science class is for non-science majors… it’s still pretty hard sometimes!). use sparingly though!!! only when you really really need it
