Size and weather at Michigan

Hi all,

So I am considering applying EA to Michigan when the time comes. I will apply to Ross (hopefully I will get in) and the college of arts and sciences. I have visited multiple times and like the school and Ann Arbor more and more. Recently I visited Emory and thought that it was great. The size was not overwhelming and it was warm. Since the visit, I have felt that Michigan may not be the place for me. As much as I would love attending the school and going to Wolverines games, getting up in the morning when it’s 15 degrees to take a bus across campus does not sound appealing. I want to know if I’m blowing the size and weather out of proportion. I live in NY so I am used to having winter and my high school only has about 110 kids per grade, so I feel that Michigan may be too big. What are your thoughts?

You only have to take the bus if you live on North Campus. The winters are cold, but there are plenty of out-of-state students from florida and texas who are doing just fine. There are also ways to get good housing so you don’t have to be outside for too long through lsa honors, mlc’s, and theme housing. The longest you would have to walk is 15 minutes. While Emory is nice, Ross is better.

Think about the residential college. You will have a feeling of a smaller school although within UMich.
