I have been accepted into both Cal Poly Pomona and SJSU for Mechanical Engineering, and I’d like to know which one is a better choice. I am interested primarily in a career in aerospace – rockets or satellites, mostly. (I chose Mechanical Engineering as my major because I figured that with a broader curriculum, I’d be able to focus on other fields if aerospace doesn’t work out.)
I live ~15 miles from SJSU, and commuting there from my home wouldn’t be a very large issue. Cal Poly Pomona, however, is 300 miles away, and I would definitely have to stay on campus.
My understanding is that SJSU has a good engineering program – but is mechanical engineering at SJSU or at Cal Poly Pomona better?
I also understand that SJSU, because of its location, is a better place to get internships or jobs relating to the field I’m interested in.
By this reasoning, I think that SJSU might be the better option for me – I want to ask, am I right?
I have been thinking about transferring to UCLA, though, and I was told that I ought to go to a CC instead of a CSU if I really wanted to. Is it worth it?
