My son, D, has been admitted to Muhlenberg with nice financial aid and to Skidmore with negligible aid. He wants to major or minor in art, and is also a good actor (more traditional, musical stuff) and may or may not try out for basketball team (both are DIII). He is also v. strong in biology. He loves ceramics and metals and jewelry. At Muhlenberg, he could take those ceramics and metals classes at Cedar Crest College. I would LOVE to hear what people's impressions are of either school, ESPECIALLY any comparing and contrasting. Any ideas on outcomes

He picked Muhlenberg. In his words: "They have the friendly thing down." He is comfortable with his choice. We estimated that this is a $40K savings each (for a total of $80K) over Skidmore for us and him. He was selected for the RJ Fellows program--an interdisciplinary program for individuals interested in affecting change in the world. This is a nice match for a kid who missed all of his admitted student open houses to go to Alabama to help rebuild a church that was burned after a Klan rally. He enjoyed visiting the Art Department and the Art Students at Muhlenberg--very much.

Congrats. You must be proud and happy!
The two schools of consideration have something in common according to one CC thread. They are have two of the "Worst School Names".

Thanks--I am proud--he made a very adult decision.

He had to pick between being a "thoroughbred" or a "mule!"
