Anyone watched it on MTV? Its based on the UK version which is better than the US version. Its about high schoolers who drink, party, have sex, and do drugs, all the time. I'm not to big on it because, to be honest many normal teens don't do that as much as they do. Its very raunchy and over the top. What are your opinions on it?

UK Skins ftw.

^Hell yea. I LOVE Skins UK. Although, I just started season 3 and I miss the first generation. The American one is really bad, in my opinion. Especially the acting! The guy they got to play Tony is absolutely TERRIBLE. Cadie is the only good part about the US Skins, in my opinion.

Yeah, the UK one is amazing so far. I’m only on Series 1 but I love it.
I haven’t watched the US version yet.

Their claiming this is what all teens in America does. Not really, yea drugs happen and partying is common. But this is something you will see people do who are in their early 20s.

I do agree that the partying culture as it is portrayed in Skins is a bit exaggerated. I don’t know about the UK, but I’ve never heard of things getting that crazy here…

I haven’t seen the US Skins. I personally believe that UK Skins is BS for partying… it’s way over the top. Then again, I am not British so I don’t know particularly how they live. For teenagers in general it seems implausible.

I still watch it though. Season 4 went way too far in a few plots… but for now, Season 5 is doing well in keeping it believable.

It annoys me when people say “oh I miss the cast blah blah the new one sucks”. Yeah, s t f u they’re not coming back, their story is over.

^Yea, I miss the first generation, but I’m still giving the second generation a chance. I love Pandora!

Is it me or does MTV make it seem as if, acting like the kids on Skins is right, and if your not doing it you suck?

What a coincidence that I’d run into this thread when I logged on - I was just watching Skins!

I don’t like the US Skins. The acting doesn’t seem… natural (I don’t know what word to describe it). And they got rid of Maxxie!

I absolutely love the UK version though. I’ve watched all almost all the episodes in seasons 1-3. I watch season 4 and 5 whenever I find the videos online. Maxxie and Anwar are my favorite characters. <3 Pandora, too.

Okay so I absolutely hated the first episode. They tried to make it almost exactly the same as the first episode of the UK version (except with less nudity and profanity) and it failed. Tony sucks he can’t act and there’s no way in real life that he would get that many girls. He’s just not hot. But I watched the next few episodes and got kind of hooked. I still hate Tony and the actor that plays him and he ruins every scene he’s in but most of the other characters are at the least tolerable. I really like Tea and I kind of like Stanley even though he’s weird as hell but I love Cadie. Her episode made me decide to watch the rest of this season.

I watched the pilot of the UK version and thought it was horrendous, so I didn’t bother watching anymore of that or the US version.

^Bahaha it’s definitely not for everyone

Me too. It’s making it hard for me to get through season 3. Ok actually I started watching like 1-2 years ago and am just really bogged down in S 3. I miss the first cast so so much!

Does it sort of bug anyone else that it’s now suddenly become so popular/mainstream? Like, I feel like a ****** for saying this since it’s like “no one else can like my favorite band because then it’s not cool” but… yeah…

Its definitely getting popular in the US. MTV is really promoting the show.

I watched it once. I really liked the way I felt when I watched it. I’d never felt so classy in my life.

I know a lot of people who watch it regularly. I don’t have the heart to offend them by asking why.

^Haha, the show can make anyone feel classy. I somehow seem to prefer Jersey Shore over it.
