slacker schedule?

bio major premed in a&s
i'm signed up for
intro cell& developmentional, chem 2070, calc i, bio 1500 (lab)
and two pe's

fws didn't fit so i'm pushing that off until second semester,
and i can't seem to find another class that fits my schedule.

that's about 13 credits save for two two pe's.
am i not doing enough? :(

2 PEs is a waste of time…u can only take 1 for credit each semester…unless you’re doing the EMT one?

People usually are registered for 16 - 18 credits per semester esp if you are a freshman. You can add 1 more class and get 16 or 17 :)

now now…friends04…

we know nothing about OPs stats and prior high school success…

you do what feels comfortable…the only problem there is that you wont be able to drop anything.

I’m just saying people are usually registered for 16 to 18 credits per semester. It’s just personal opinion, but I believe (most if not) everyone in Cornell can do well even when they are taking 16 credits. I know I can be wrong.

everyone CAN do well…but first semester can be quite an adjustment for some…

Then a better suggestion is to enroll in classes, attend very first lectures, and see if the person can handle it :)

The first lectures are often very superficial, and you get no sense of how much work is required once the load ramps up.

i initially had a fws, but it clashed w/ chem lab, so i had to let that go.
not trying on purpose to slack off here .
as for the two pe’s- i’m really into sports& hoping to join a few clubs, so i’m not too terribly concerned about getting credit recognition.

but um,
i’d say i was pretty successful in hs; weren’t we all&isn’t that why we’re here…? :stuck_out_tongue:
took about 8 ap’s, and got 5’s on ea. save for physics, 4.0 gpa, 2350+ sat, etc. etc.

i’m really willing to work hard.
i shall try to fit an fws, but these darn labs are getting the best of me.
i’m scared to find another lab time b/c i might not be able to get back in 0.0
wish me luck.

*btw
how to add/drop fws?
do i go to the knight institute sight, or just do it through student center?
i need quick answers- add/drop ends soon 0.0

you should always realize that first semester freshman year may be the hardest…maybe not just academic wise, but with adjusting to college. i took 15 both semesters my freshman year to get used to the rigors of cornell. it’s fine to take less than 16. if you are pressed for credits, you can always make it up later

for someone with the OPs stats i’d say 14 academic credits + 1 PE should be bare minimum…

you should really consider 15-16

I’m a little baffled by all thise 16-18 credits talk. The 4 year plan my daughters advisor did for her doesn’t have her taking more than 16 credits any semester and most of them are between 13-15. What am I missing? She only needs 120 credits to graduate plus PE of course. She also has 15 credits from AP/IB but I assume most would have that too.

engineers and pre-meds will not always be able to do 15…

and no not everyone has AP credit!

I don’t think even with tons of AP credit, engineers/pre-meds will ever be able to do 15 or less credits a semester.

to address the concerns of many-
i managed to squeeze in an fws.
on cigarette cultures

well, at least that’s better than an fws on brit. lit. that clashes w/ the sacred chem lab.
so now i have 16 credits =D

although i have to say, i didn’t really understand why everyone was so concerned, since
my schedule was pretty much identical to those of other premed/bio majors i’ve talked
to, save for the absence of an fws, which i can push off till next semester due to english
credit

but i’ll just get it out of the way then…

if you are pre-med…i would ask around if you can replace AP credit for your med schools…

i know not ALL med schools have the same english composition course requirements…

i’m kind of hesitant about using ap credit though.
there are some that accept it and some that don’t. they’re pretty hazy about it.
this was discussed at the bio info session, that most med schools do, in fact, accept credit, but i really want to play it safe.

which is a bummer, but ah well. the worst that can happen is a manageable course.
and not getting to graduate early.
