SLU Class of 2022

I just heard back from SLU and I got in!!!

Can I ask? Did you get an email? Or did you just check your status and see notification there. And congrats!!

My daughter received a call from Admissions yesterday saying she was admitted and would be given a Vice Presidential Scholarship of $20,000/yr.

That is fantastic!! My daughter missed the call from her admission counselor. Hopefully they are able to connect today!
Good luck to your daughter in making her final decision!

My admissons rep called me to let me know but it hasnt been updated online yet

My son initially applied to SLU because using the net price calculator SLU appeared to be competitive with Creighton and Gonzaga. But upon closer inspection, their calculator does not include anything except tuition, room, and board. Other college net price calculators almost always include things like books, transportation, personal expenses, etc when arriving at their net number. So even though we received a call with a $20,000 scholarship offer, they are actually much higher priced than the offer we received from Creighton and if we receive $20,000 from Gonzaga. My question is, can anybody give me some reasons that SLU is better than those other two?

Based on my calculations, Gonzaga and SLU have almost identical tuition and housing costs. They are very simliar so it really would be just a regional preference or major preference.
I think Creighton is about $4000 less in tuition. Housing tends to be about $10,000-$11,000 at all schools. My daughter picked SLU because we have family in St Louis and Chicago. She loved the campus, small class sizes, happy vibe of the campus, and the urban setting. Best of luck in your search!!

Thanks for the input AKMom. When I level set everything except for the tuition, room and board, and scholarships Creighton is about $6,000 per year less. You might be right about Gonzaga, I have not seen their offer yet. It’s still in my opinion a great offer from SLU, I guess I need to see both of them in order to rationalize the difference in cost.

@AKmom2009 Have you heard back from SLU yet? If so, how long was it after your daughter’s status changed to “under review”?

My son received a letter from his admissions counselor (at SLU) congratulating him (yesterday) but his online status has only changed to Under Review. I guess they’ll catch up.

She was accepted and she will attend! Her status changed late Thursday afternoon and she received a call about 24 hours later.

DD just received a phone call advising her she received the Dean’s Scholarship! So exciting!

I just got accepted into SLU’s nursing program with a $20,000 scholarship!

hey guys! I received my acceptance letter in the mail today.
Major: Pre-Nursing
GPA: 3.8
ACT: 26
In State (we’re like 20 mins away from STL)
Although my acceptance letter stated that I got into the school, I won’t know if I got into the Pre-Nursing major until January. Best of luck to everyone!

my application status still says “under review” even though I got my acceptance today. hold in there

Hi,
32 ACT
4.3505 w GPA
I applied to SLU and got vice president’s scholarship and they asked me to apply for the presidential scholarship. Does anyone know how many people get that one and what are my chances of getting it? My essay was fairly good I would say.

@c0ll3g3g1rl From what I’ve been able to find out, it looks like SLU invites ~500 candidates to interview for the Presidential Scholarship. I can’t find any information around how many students are awarded the scholarship, but I’m guessing the number will be much lower.

Congrats all! My son is a freshman at SLU this year and LOVES IT! He is in the PT program and is so happy with his decision to attend. Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have! We are very impressed with SLU!

My daughter is very excited but nervous! She always envisioned going to a large school with a big football program but fell in love with SLU.

She’ll be far from home but she has a cousin in St Louis. What dorm does your son stay in?

How exciting! Literally EVERYONE I know who goes to SLU, or has kids at SLU, LOVES it! Honestly~everyone! There is a truly great vibe there~nice kids and friendly parents. After sending our older 3 to other schools, we are very impressed.

My son is in Griesedieck Hall~the epic freshman dorm. He was originally assigned to one of the newer ones (which are amazing by the way!) but decided to live in the primarily freshmen dorm to meet people etc. He loves it! We just laugh~it is the typical dorm experience, but he has a great roommate and the room is actually pretty big! All good~

He is home on break now and can not wait to get back! Just so you know, there is an amazing facebook parents group that is unbelievable. There are people on it who help everyone out all the time. Some locals will drive your kids, drop off gifts or food and/or just be a resource for the rest of us. Honestly, a true community/family. SLU is just like that.
