Hi. Does anyone have any experience going from a very small HS to a large college/univ.? I'm just wondering because I go to a small (200 students) all-girls catholic private school and i'm wondering if i would feel really overwhelmed at a big college (not academically overwhelmed, just in terms of the amount of students/socially/ etc). I know it's pretty much different for everyone, but anyone have any experience with this?

My school was about as big as yours, and I go to Brown now, which has like 5,000 or so students. I wouldn't say it's overwhelming at all, except maybe the first week or so when you meet like 200 new people in one week and can't remember who any of them are, but that's not specific to people from small schools. I'm pretty sure everyone feels like that. I can't speak for places like huge state universities or something though. The one major difference I've noticed is that while in HS, all my teachers knew everyone, the profs here might know your name by the end of the semester.

I went to a small indendepent HS in NJ and graduated with 44 total kids...I am now a sophomore at University of Michigan and honestly its AMAZING....thre are always new people to meet and wherever I go i manage to run into someone that i know no matter what time or when.

my high school had 3,000 students.
my college has around 50,000.

I actually really like being at such a huge school, there's something for everyone.
