So here's the thing. I go to a small school in central Iowa. Our school offers one AP Class, and no Honors classes. We have less than 400 students in our high school, about 100 in my grade. So is it even possible for me to get accepted to a top notch college because I don't have the opportunities to participate in as many extracurriculars, or take as many advanced classes? Thanks!

Plenty of high schools offer limited- or no- APs. Even many great privates, by choice. The lack of ECs, though, can reflect on you, not your hs. Must be something you can find to do-? Or, maybe you are under-rating what you are doing-? Think about it.

For EC’s, I’m trying to start a few programs at my high school, and also trying to join a few other school’s programs. I have joined a few things that are statewide to try and accommodate, but I’ll see what I can do.

According to Harvard and Brown admissions officers (who I talked to in person within the last 2 days), your extracurriculars and transcript are judged in context of your school AND your community. If there was a lack of good EC opportunities in your community, having few ECs would not be looked down upon.
