Hello I need everyone's help deciding between a top liberal arts college with good academics yet its environment ina surburban area would prevent me from taking advantage of studying and interning at the dozens of museums, political organizations opportunities I could take if I enrolled in a NYC public college in its honors program. Thoughts?

Others may help you better if you named the schools, their net prices, and the academics you are most interested in.

I agree that you should share what colleges they are, but in addition, I think that students often overestimate the access to internships they will have in an urban area and underestimate the access they will have in a suburban area. Many suburban colleges have worked really hard to give their students access to great internships, and they may be less competitive in the small city or town that the college is in. Conversely, many internships in large cities are very competitive - sometimes they are snapped up by college grads rather than current students, or sometimes if there are many colleges in a city the more prestigious colleges get first pick of the internships (because of the connections of their alumni and the money the school can pour into maintaining these relationships). So before making the decision, I’d check to see if the career center at that NYC public college has any information about the kinds of specific internships students do while enrolled.

thank you for the helpful advice I am going to look at that right now
