I am so upset because I just realized that I put a semicolon where there should have been a comma. I usually do not miss these things and I think this will stick with me forever. is there any way to change it or correct it, or let colgate know that i found the typo? I know i should have proofread a 100000th time, but there's nothing i can do now. do they weight these things heavily? should I be worried? do we know how strict colgate is? please, i am so frustrated with myself!

Enjoytheview,

Please do calm down and let it be. As you say, there is nothing you can do. Assuming you are comfortable with the substance of your essay and, for that matter, your grades, scores and references that represent and support your credentials, a stray semicolon is hardly an issue. You don’t really want to contact the Office of Admissions about it, do you?

I wish you best of luck!

You are absolutely fine. We promise.

You don’t want to be remembered as “that kid who called about the semicolon”; now do you? See how benign that was?

Hang in there. My husband was admitted to medical school after realizing his essay had a similar typo. You won’t forget, but you WILL laugh about it soon.
