SMC And NYU

Hello everyone,

Im a junior in a California high school right now, and I am planning on taking the CHSPE (and my GED when I turn 18) to graduate early from high school so that I can start work and begin classes at SMC. I want to go to NYU for my undergrad but I have been told SMC (Santa Monica College) credits are not accepted by NYU. I'm not 100% sure if that is true, or if there are any ways around that if it is... so thats why I am here.

Is there a way to transfer from SMC to NYU? And does NYU take into big consideration high school grades if 64 transferable credits are earned at a community college (in this case, SMC credits)?

Thanks

I’d be curious of where you’ve heard that SMCs credits don’t transfer to NYU

^ I second this notion. Credits won’t transfer if NYU doesn’t have equivalent classes, but I see no reason to single out SMC.

General rule of thumb is the longer you’ve been out of high school, the less high school grades matter.

Thanks! :D
