I'm a junior and a legacy at St. Mary's College in South Bend, IN (sister school to the University of Notre Dame). However, I always wanted to end up at Notre Dame across the street. I recently visited both schools, and while I enjoyed my time at ND, I was completely blown away by SMC. I loved the campus, the class I went to, the people I met, and I could 100% envision myself living here.

If I went to SMC, I would still want to be involved in life at ND (football games, working on the Observer, etc.) but I'm a little worried about the "social stigma" of being labeled a SMC chick.

Any advice/info from students from either school?

Hi, I was a former student at SMC. It’s a very nice school. The classes are small, the professors know your name, and all around its very friendly.

As for the ND/SMC relationship, it really depends on what you choose to make of it. I joined a few clubs over at ND, and everyone was very welcoming and even forgot that I went to SMC. It’s nice to be able to be part of the football games too.

There are a few of those ND people with unfavorable views of SMC chicks, but I’ve never ran into any. It is said that ND guys like SMC chicks more, which is what causes the whole “rivalry” between ND and SMC girls. But other than that, the relationship seems to be a rather good one.
