SMC to UCLA Transfer GPA

Hi!

I wanted to get a better idea of how transfer GPA is calculated.

To start, I went to a community college in Washington state during high school (dual enrollment/running start program) and did most of my college classes there. My GPA at this college was a 3.6, I graduated high school but still had a couple more classes before I could transfer or get my AA. I moved to California in 2013 and started taking film classes at Orange Coast College. I took about 7 different film classes, none of them counting towards GE’s or IGETC it was really just to learn about TV/Film Production. I took a gap year and did a lot of work/travel, I live in LA now and want to finish getting a Bachelor’s degree. I’m going to be finishing up my classes at Santa Monica College, and was wondering how exactly your transfer GPA is calculated. Do they only calculate your GPA based on the classes that are transferring (for UCLA this would just be IGETC), or is it based on all classes you’ve ever taken, including all the random film classes I took at OCC?

SMCC is one of the largest sources of transfers to UCLA and they are pretty experienced at advising. Have you asked the xfer counselors?

The answer is also readily available by searching online how UC calculates xfer gpa.
