Well, what I plan to do is take many Ged Ed classes in Florida that are necessary for an Industrial Design major at UC. That way, I’ll only have to take studio classes and seminars at UC.

That is a fine plan. Do no be surprised if new doors open and new interests emerge along the way.

You might want to talk to someone at UC, about whether your plan to take gen ed classes could work. UC’s design curriculum is VERY rigid, and you have to take classes in sequence with your class. Not to turn you off UC–it is great–it just isn’t very flexible. After Freshman year there are very few gen ed classes. The degree is a Bachelor of Science so probably 90% of the courses are in the major, in sequence, and not anything you can use transfer credits for.

The nice thing about UC would be the coops–you’d make some $$ and that helps.

I would just advise you look at their curriculum and talk to someone in the design school before you get your heart set on it.

They may have a master’s program in ID (not sure, they have one for Graphic Design…) So that might be an option if you get an undergrad in a compressed amount of time in Fla, then get a masters from UC?

Good luck

*Appalachian State also has that major, but the OOS cost is going to be about $25k for tuition, room, board, books.

Univ of Louisiana at Lafayette also has that major, but the OOS cost is about $19k for tuition, room, board, books.*

Univ of Cincinnati - OOS cost is $36k per year for tuition, room, board and books.

How are you going to pay for that??? you can’t borrow that much (nor should you).

You need to look at the other schools that have that same major for a much cheaper price.

Great advice! Thanks.
