Smith college- international

These are my stats

SAT: 1370

I’m doing O/A levels but the conversion to high school gpa is:
unweighted: 4.3 weighted: 4.6

I’m super worried because I only have 3 A Levels which means 3 AP subjects i guess.
Business, economics and math
i had chem, bio, physics, english, math, history, religion and urdu in o levels(which is basically grade 9 and 10)

EC:
been teaching underprivileged kids in my community since grade 7
founder of fashion design club (in grade 9)
interned at an architectural firm (grade 11- summer )
an intern for a government development project( grade 11)
Began the garbage collection campaign( in my community- grade 10, 11 and 12)
Part of swimming team (at a local club)

( Our schools here literally dont have any clubs, which is why i dont have any ec in school)
*the grade 9 club was at a different school. I ended up moving to a new town after grade 9.

l’m gonna apply into architecture and my common app essay is a personal story about how i got interested in architecture so i’m hoping it’ll make up for the fact that i didn’t take physics as an AP.
Plus, since smith has an open curriculum, i want to take psychology courses too and i added my interest about that in the essay too.
I honestly dont have my hopes up high because i feel like i’m pretty average.

(Also, i’m applying ED)

Hi – so at Smith and other LACs in the US you don’t tend to apply “into” or “for” a major. You start as a general student and declare a major once you’ve been a student for awhile.

Your SATs seem a little low but your grades may be high enough. For International students, is it possible to apply without SATs? It is for US students.

It’s impossible to tell you whether you have chances or not, frankly. You look like a good candidate to me, but really what do I know? So much more goes into the selection other than what you’ve put here but to me you seem like a great candidate and they would be lucky to have you.

If they don’t accept you, it’s their loss.

International students have to give the SAT :frowning:
I have a 740 in math but a 630 in English( which is extremely bad) but I gave the TOEFL(which has writing, speaking, listening and reading) and I scored above what is considered excellent. so, I’m hoping it’ll make up for it.

@intstudent13 How did you get a 740 in math, that is really good! How did u prep?

Hey @intstudent13 I wanted to ask, did you get an email from an international recruitment intern at Smith?

Or did everyone get it?

Also Good luck and OMG 3 A LEVELS ISNT THE EQUIVALENT OF 3 APS! A levels exams DEF have WAY more weight age then a single AP so don’t ever be worried ahout that, ofc A levels is treated differently because it isn’t the same nature or type of exam you know?

Also what matters is if you are asking for financial aid or not. If your SAT scores fall within their range BUT you aren’t asking for shitloads of aid ( lol @ myself ah wish I’d robbed a jewellery store for US colleges ) then you should be fine DW KEEP YOUR HOPES HIGH!

But your ECs in my opinion are great for international students and specially for people who apply from our country ( And wait you’re Pakistani right ?) because they’re very much linked and related to what you want to pursue!

Anyways good luck, I really hope we both get in ??? itd be so much fun to have another paki at smith!

;/ ah I’ve had the worst weekend of stupid ass rejections ( 3 rejections and 2 waitlists AH WHich MAKES ME SO SAAAD) but oh well I mean I really hope I get into smith too because I love how supportive women’s colleges are AND they offer engineering ( UGH GOD CAN I GET IN PRETTY PLEAASE)

???
