smith/mount holyoke information, also the peter pan bus

hi guys, ive recently been wait listed at smith (my top choice) so im looking at mount holyoke as a backup! any advice on how to get off the wait list? id also like to hear about peoples different experiences at either school. im getting equally excited about moho! also, does the peter pan bus go directly to boston from anywhere near these schools? i wont have access to a car so ill need to be able to walk there or ride the consortium bus. thank you! any information would help.

ive started a new thread about the bus, so we can amend my question to now be only about smith’s wait list and your input about either school! thanks!

I couldn’t tell you about Smith’s wait list. I was outright rejected when I was a prospective first-year.

I was accepted into Mount Holyoke and thought it was beautiful. I loved it there. I’ve been told it’s an equally good school and I have friends who love it there. A different friend of mine goes to Smith and she isn’t so happy with the social aspect of student life. (To be fair, she was FURIOUS that she had to go to Smith due to rejection at Swarthmore and various Ivy-league schools) I say go to Mount Holyoke.

Sadly, I was unable to go to Moho. Went to another women’s college and did not take to the environment. Despite suddenly leaving school in the middle of this semester (not advisable!)and my transfer process, I was able to get into both Smith and Mount Holyoke. The moral of this story: if you don’t get in and you have your heart set on leaving, you can try again. (And I’m also listening in on input.)

I would discount the opinion of someone who was furious about going to a school before they even got there. My daughter loves Smith, including the social aspects of student life. I expect that it’s a nice place to transfer into because the students are friendly and the small sizes of the houses means that you’ll integrate into the community quickly.

There’s not really anything you can do to get off the wait list. Sending them a letter about your continued interest and any new honors, if any, is about all you can do. You can also tell them that you will definitely attend if you get off the wait list, if you’re sure.

Mount Holyoke is a great school too, so it’s good to hear that you’re excited about it.

thank you so much for the input, guys! your advice is really appreciated
