I heard there are smogs in LA. Does this affect UCLA air too?

I lived in LA for 10 years and my daughter now goes to UCLA. Yes, LA has some air pollution but it is usually something that affects the inland areas and valleys (San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Pomona, etc.). If you are within about 7 miles of the ocean (as UCLA) is than it is not really a factor as the ocean on-shore breeze keeps that air pretty clean. In fact, there is much less air poliution in LA now than there was many years ago.

Eh, maybe some, but its not really noticeable usually. If you grew up in the mountains or in the country you might feel a difference at first but its not that big of a deal.

The water, on the other hand, is horrible here.

drinking water? swimming water? tap water?

No, UCLA has a protective dome around it so it has its own atmosphere, completely separate from LA’s.

I was talking about the tap water and water at the dining halls (which I think is tap water, since it tastes the same).

I think the drinking water is purified, so we’re not going to die. And the water in the dining halls isn’t that bad :P

I certainly notice the smog. It sure beats USC, CSUN, the Claremonts though!
