SMU COx Business Scholar (First year business student)

<p>What are the qualifications to get admitted into Cox as a first year entering SMU? I know that you can get in easily as a sophomore, with a 3.0 and taking required courses... But I am interested in getting admitted as a freshman. Also, how many are usually selected?</p>

<p>I have NUMEROUS awards in speech and debate and currently work part time at the company Shell through the program BPA(As listed above). And also have about 200 volunteer hours.</p>

<p>I'm going to retake my ACT, hopefully I can get a 32.</p>

<p>They look at a number of different things, but the BBA Scholar invitees typically are the ‘best’ 100 – 150 students who are admitted to SMU who have said that they want to study business. Last year the BBA Scholars had an average SAT of over 1430. They look at your involvement, leadership, recs, etc.</p>

<p>I’m a BBA Scholar and it was an honor to be invited, but it’s really nothing to stress about. The only difference is not having to worry about making the subset grades (although I did anyway) and getting to go to a couple neat receptions.</p>
