Smu ea/ed 2023

I got accepted! I was awarded the Provost’s Scholarship.

What we’re your grades/ test scores if you don’t mind my asking?

Accepted Lyle School of Engineering

congrats to those who got in, especially those who got scholarships.

@Esakj9494 Don’t mind at all. GPA: 5.68/6.0 (4.0/4.0) Rank: 4/540 ACT: 34 Extracurriculars mostly were golf, deca, some honor societies, and volunteering.

Accepted with Provost Scholarship (30,000 a year)
Stats
SAT:1390
Rank/GPA: 5/750 4.732 w
Varsity athlete, IB program, leadership in clubs, strong common app essay

From what I was reading, conditional acceptance will guarantee me acceptance going into my sophomore year if I wish to attend SMU. To come my sophomore year I will need 2.7 GPA my freshman year and 24 credit hours to graduate on time. They said it was pretty unusual gesture to be offered conditional admission, so I am extremely thankful for the opportunity!

My daughter also got in. Provost scholarship (30K).

DD got Provost @$30,000/yr, and like in prior year EA/Ed thread, the acceptance letter’s first paragraph is very personalized citing specific things about her application!

SAT 1510 single sitting
ACT 33; 34 superscore
17 APs
3.6 UW; 4.19 W (not ranked; only about 110 in her class and a choice magnet. she was assigned top 25% academic admit at TAMU FWIW)

Really good ECs/leadership/interesting things

We are really hoping for the Discovery scholarship to make SMU doable. At $30k + $9k, that brings COA to around $35k but with NO travel (we live 3 miles away). She will apply for the Hunt as well.

My D was deferred .Didn’t think they do that for EA. Kind of shocked. I’m curious if those who were denied applied for Financial Aid. We did, but we aren’t eligble for much. I wonder if applying hurt her. Also for those that got in were you full pay? Thanks so much.

And congratulations to those who got in.

I got in and here are my stats:
OOS Female (MA)
SAT: 1380
GPA: 3.4/4.1
EC: Deca (leadership position), Best Buddies, Community service, work experience
Doesn’t look like I got any money though which will sadly make SMU not an option for me. Is there any chance that I could have gotten a scholarship but it just wasn’t included in my acceptance portal update?

D17 got in with provost scholarship 30K per year, 1510, 3.98 in a competitive public school top 7% rank, great ECs with leadership. The letter did not indicate admission to program, she had applied for Cox does anybody else get their program in the acceptance letter ?

Accepted
ACT: 34 (35R, 35M, 34E, 33S)
GPA: 3.95/4 unweighted; 5.1 weighted
1000 plus service hours; 10 AP’s; 8 Honor Societies and leadership positions

Offered Provost Scholarship of $30,000 a year!!
Congrats to everyone who got in

Deferred
GPA: 3.35
SAT: 1150
OOS
Tons of EC
Does anyone know what percent of deferred students get in?

I got in EA tonight and also received Provost (30k). Here are my stats:

GPA: ~3.8
ACT: 33 composite, 34 superscore (2 tests)
OOS Female (NY)
A few strong leadership EC’s-- Vice President of NHS, President of Chinese NHS, Lacrosse captain, etc. (they actually mentioned these three EC’s in my acceptance letter)
Very good essays and recommendations

Hope this helps. Good luck to all!

No program mentioned in acceptance letter.

@txmomager , DD’s letter does not cite which college. DD’s primary and 2nd choice are both in Dedman.

when are they going to say what college we got into

Our son was deferred as well.
SAT 1390 (710 Math)
GPA 3.692
Applied for Lyle School of Engineering
EC’s: Student Council, AcaDec Competition Team, Lifeguard Supervisor (3 years with the same company), Volunteer hours, Good essay and recommendation letters.

Out of curiosity, for those of you deferred, does your letter just state that they want to see how your child does this first semester of Senior Year or are some asking for other things like retaking SAT/ACT?

Did any of you guys apply for business? Dp you know if Cox BBA scholars are revealed later?
