SMU Non-admit scholarships.. post invites and notifications here (Presidential/Hunt/Discovery/other)

Hi all, starting this thread for notifications, invitations, and details on non-admit scholarships such as Presidential, Hunt, Discovery, Dedman, Lyle, departmental, etc.

I received invitation to apply for Dedman scholars program via email. Deadline is Jan. 2nd at midnight. Does anyone know: 1) how many invites, 2) how many acceptances, 3) does invitation to Dedman mean I’m out for President’s and/or Hunt? 4) any other details? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

A friend of the family was named a Cox BBA Scholar and received a BBA Distinguished Scholar scholarship today from the school of business.

I received my BBA Scholar notification today

My daughter also received the BBA Scholar scholarship yesterday (via email) and previously was awarded the Provost. Any ideas when they send invites for the Presidential?

Received Discovery scholarship via email today. @txmom2023: no news on Presidents invitations. Good luck and Merry Christmas to all!

Received an email inviting me to apply for Dedman Scholars on the 19th (app is due Jan. 2). Today I got an email that I had received the Discovery Scholarship for Dedman.

Daughter has been invited for a phone interview for Dedman scholars. Can someone fill me in on what the odds are for something like this? Is it 10k per year for 4 years?

@Meadow530 congrats and same. 15 min seems short to me.

Any current / past Dedman Scholars have any advice on the types of questions asked in the interview?

Regarding Dedman Scholars program…
https://www.smu.edu/Dedman/ProspectiveStudents/DedmanCollegeScholarsProgram/Selection
The Dedman College Scholars who entered SMU in the Fall of 2018 had an average SAT (math and critical reading) of 1489, an average ACT composite of 34, and an average unweighted GPA of 3.96 in a challenging high school curriculum as well as extracurricular involvement.

Does anyone think they will do a couple waves of emails regarding interviews for Dedman Scholars Program, or are they are done inviting people? I haven’t heard anything, but I felt pretty confident about my essays.

Daughter was called today that she was accepted to Dedman Scholars.
It’s quite an honor and she’s excited, but I’m unsure that even this will bring the cost down to where we need it to be.
It does sound very cool, finances aside.

Did she get any other scholarship offers from the school?

Yes she got the Provost. Which I’m aware is very generous but the cost of attendance is just so ridiculously high that even with 30+10 off, it’s still one of our least affordable options.

My DD received the Provost and Discovery (30 + 9). Even though SMU is still very expensive, what I’ve found is that the cost of attendance is crazy even for in-state public universities (California). For example, UCLA cost of attendance is about $32,500 per year. College is unfortunately crazy expensive.

True. But we’re in Texas and UT is only 25/26. Daughter got into an honors program there so SMU at mid 30s doesn’t make financial sense for us (going for no debt, plus we have 4 other kids after her.) If she gets a PS invite, then it’s still on the table, definitely.

UT is a great deal.

Has anyone been invited for Presidential Scholarship yet?

Has anyone or heard of anyone receiving $ for the Lyle Engineering Scholars program separate from the Discovery scholarship?
