I was extremely surprised when I checked the mail and found out I was a finalist for SMU’s President’s Scholar Program! Did anyone else receive invitations to the finalist week in March for the interviews?

Haven’t heard anything, but we are hopeful to receive invitation. Son was accepted as a BBA Scholar, Provost Scholarship and Distinguished BBA Scholarship. 3.92 UWGPA, 4.40 WGPA, 1540 SAT, 34 ACT, 9 APs, National Merit Semi-finalist (Finalist pending).

does being invited to apply for dedman college scholars program mean you are not considered for the president’s scholars program?

Do you know the deadline by which the Presidential Scholars and Hunt Scholars are notified?
@GHolmes i didnt apply to Hunts, so im not sure about that one, but all finalists for the Presidential Scholars should be notified by February for those who applied regular action, but for those who apply early action know earlier. i got my letter mailed to me, so perhaps depending on where you live, the mailing time may be causing some delay if you are a finalist?

@GHolmes those who applied to the Hunt Scholarship are notified by the end of February.
Hi, my daughter received the SMU Distinguished Scholarship and a Dedman merit scholarship. She also just received an invitation to join the Honors program. Just wondering the chances of her receiving an invite for the Presidential Scholarship. She has a 4.0 and 1500SAT, AP classes
Did she receive the invite through the mail or online?

Still haven’t received an invitation for Presidential Scholarship interview. We did receive invitation for Hilltop Scholars.

Last year my daughter received an invitation for the PS interviews around Valentine’s Day. She applied RD. The January RD deadline just passed so they may be waiting to issue the rest of the invitations until they see who applied RD.
My son just received a note from his admissions counselor. She stated that Hunt and Presidential Scholarship invitations have not been finalized and will be distributed in the next two weeks.
does anyone know if the Presidents Scholarship provides stipends for students?
@colorfulhuman - President Scholars receive a full ride (tuition, room & board - if living on campus). There is no stipend for books, lab fees, etc. That is the only cost the student is responsible to pay.
Are the chances better if your student enrolls in SMU or waits?
