@GaelRacer that’s disappointing. My DS has similar stats. Hopefully there are other great options for your son. Did you call to specifically ask about PS? Did they say when notifications are going out?

DS got an envelope from SMU today which got me a little excited. Unfortunately it was just an invitation to Destination SMU. I am not holding my breath for PS either but it sure would be nice!

I applied to SMU regular decision (January 15th). SMU has been emailing me hints that I got in for the past week. Today I received an email informing that I (and a few other students) have been selected to receive early admission today (Feb 6th). I was awarded the Provost Scholarship. Do you think this means I am being considered for the Presidential because I received my notification so early? I have a 34 ACT, above a 4.0, 14 Honors/AP classes (I go to an all girls college prep, so we mostly have honors not AP), and I have studied Arabic abroad and had computer science internships, as far as qualifications. Is this a good sign? Also congratulations to everyone who has gotten in!
Shoot! My son sounds similiar- Provost, honors- hoping for Presidential, Dedman or Hunt. Did you call to find out? Thank you!!
Hi y’all! I just called to see when the Hunt would be sent out, and the admissions office said sometime next week!
i received notification of the provost scholarship about two weeks before i received notification of being a finalist for the pres scholarship so lets hope it’s good news! also, you’ll receive the notification over mail, not online so make sure you keep checking your mailbox @moomzer @AGW2018

I have a question for RD applicants, do you hear about Presidential Scholarship the same time you find out about your admission? SMU emailed me saying i have an admission update tonight at 9. Wondering what to expect.

I have twins. Both have been accepted to SMU with Provost scholarship. How do you know if its honors? Does it say it in your letter? Also, is there a possibility to receive additional scholarships/funding as in need based?
Ranked 5 & 7 out of 475/ - 1520 & 1560 SATs. - 32 & 34 ACTs. - over 32 AP classes b/t the two. - National Merit Finalist and Hispanic National Merit. GPA: 5.50 & 5.56 - BOTH Weighted 4.0

@MisPollitas00 - Honors invite comes in a separate letter/email. Have you submitted your FAFSA and CSS Profile? If so, then you will receive a financial aid package with need based grants, etc.
@momoftres Thank you for that information. Yes, everything submitted. I did speak with admissions today and they anticipate the Presidents Scholarship letters to go out in the next week or two. She also mentioned that is when the honors letters will go out as well.
My daughter received an invite for the Honors program a few weeks ago. We are waiting to see about the Presidential Scholarship now. I was hoping it would be this week!

Last year PS letters were around Valentine’s Day. I was hoping for this week too.
The counselor mentioned because they are RD they won’t know about honors till March. The PS finalists letter should be soon. She mentioned the committee for the PS scholarship is made up of faculty. They look at scores, rank, gpa, leadership and if their from Texas schools (I think she said the Texas school thing). This is what I am not sure of, only 20-25 finalists or 20-25 scholarships awarded?
@MisPollitas00 - They usually have around 50+ finalists and select approx. 25 PS.
