SMU Regular Decision 2020

@danceologist Yes, I had a personalized statement at the end of the second paragraph. It congratulated me on my leadership as president and founder markerspace. It’s actually the makerspace, but oh well!

@KayCow The admissions letter will include a bit of information about the award. There are some college specific awards that are given out later I believe.

@adamfromiowa I only received the online letter, no physical letter. would i have found out in my online notification?

In with 3.66 and 34 ACT. $90,000 (22,500/year)! - Dean’s Scholarship

@KayCow Yeah, you would have seen something in the online letter. It is likely you didn’t receive one of the initial scholarships, but you still have an opportunity for the college specific ones. Unfortunately, I don’t think those scholarships are as large. Regardless, congrats on your acceptance! What are your stats, or how do you compare to other applicants?

I got into smu with a dean’s scholarship today, but it didn’t specify anywhere about which major I was accepted into. Does anyone know where I can find out? Maybe they’ll notify me later?

Waitlisted with a 27 ACT and 3.76 GPA. Lots of leadership roles and involvement. I applied to the engineering school with unique previous engineering experiences in high school. I really don’t understand why I wasn’t accepted.

I just found out that I got into SMU last night! I opened the letter on the student portal and little pieces of confetti were flying and I was so excited!!! My personal statement was “we enjoyed learning about how you went above and beyond expectations by learning Arabic to read the Quran”.

I was waitlisted?? I had a 30 ACT, part native american URM, and first generation… I am very upset :frowning:

Was admitted with 2nd century scholarships. 35 ACT 3.13 GPA. Pleasantly surprised!

Did anyone get the Deans’ Scholarship with less than a 33 ACT or SAT equivalent? I received it with a 31 ACT and 4.0 GPA at a very non-competitive school. I had only one AP course as well. I’m just wondering if the committee liked me for my other application reasons like essays and extracurriculars rather than my basic stats.

@adamfromiowa Yeah I had a 2080 (1460 math+cr) and didn’t have any teacher recommendations yet still got the Deans’ scholarship. Do you know what major you were accepted to? I have no idea what major I’m in at smu.

@Supreme17 Congrats. And no, I haven’t hear anything about my major yet. I’m pretty sure that SMU sent out admissions packets on Friday. Hopefully there is some more information in there and not just repeat info that is already online.

Congrats everyone! You don’t have to declare your major until the end of sophomore year. So you have time.

Yesterday I was invited to the Cox BBA Scholars Program with an additional $5,000 per year on top of my Deans scholarship. I have 4.0 GPA and 31 ACT (for comparison’s sake). Average ACT for this scholarship is 33, but I wasn’t extremely surprised because my primary essay was about my journey through the stock market. These merit awards make SMU sooo much more affordable. Has anyone else received any other news?

Got accepted RD with a UW 3.55 but no information on a major. Does this mean I’m going to be enrolled as Undecided?

@kalebco2016 Nobody received any information on their major. We will hear about it later.

Wait listed 30 ACT 3.62 GPA UW involved a couple of ECs but didn’t submit counselor rec letter. They mentioned I needed to submit rec letter in order for them to make a final decision. But then again, I was put on the waitlist???

Just submit your LOR and see what happens. Many students get rejected if they don’t have all the documents. The conselor’s letter of recommendation is required - it’s part of the application process. See: http://www.smu.edu/Admission/Apply/FirstYear

Any Meadows applicants out there who have received their scholarship info? I received an email today to login and check. But when I login, there is no info…
