SMU Transfer Aid

Hello everyone,

I’m a new member to these forums but have been lurking for quite some time now.

I’m currently attending a community college on the west coast with the ultimate goal of transferring into the SMU Cox School of Business. I love the possibilities that SMU offers to make connections with prominent business leaders in the Dallas area. But like many, my biggest concern with SMU is the cost.

I will be filling out my transfer application this fall for the 2019/20 school year. I have had my heart set on SMU for quite some time now, but I’m starting to worry about a potential admit/deny situation where my grades are good enough to transfer in, but I don’t get offered enough financial aid to attend. This would be a nightmare.

So I was just wondering if there is anyone on here who has experience with transferring to SMU, and what type of financial aid package they offered? More specifically, how much need-based aid was offered? I come from a low income family so need-based aid is what I’m most concerned about.

Were they skimpy with the aid due to your status as a transfer student, or did they offer the same type of aid that an incoming freshman would get? Just looking for some answers so that I can start considering other options if SMU is indeed way out of my price range. Thanks!
