We are in CO and had a snow day yesterday when my son S21 was supposed to take the PSAT and possibly qualify for National Merit. We were told that the kids cannot make up this test. Any advice?
College Board has Oct 16, Oct 19 as test dates and Oct 30 as the alternate.
I’d would contact College Board directly. My kids took PSATs at another school versus the school they attend. Although it appears there are no additional tests dates available.
Who did you ask - College Board or your local test administrators?
Was it at his HS so many kids were impacted?
They were on Fall break on October 16th so they scheduled it for the alternative date. The alternative date ended up being the snow day and there are no other options.
2 of the largest districts in the Denver metro area were impacted.
You should also write to the National Merit Scholarship Program. I’m not sure what the options are, but there are alternative ways to qualify…but you have to follow the directions and write them, as detailed here. https://www.nationalmerit.org/s/1758/interior.aspx?sid=1758&gid=2&pgid=424
The entire junior class attending Chicago Public High Schools has also missed PSAT/NMSQT due to a teachers strike, which ended yesterday. Good luck.
Unfortunately, this is a difficult situation. We in into it just about every year with AMC testing. It’s in January, so it’s always snowing somewhere. Test questions are being discussed /solved by the next morning, online, so obviously the test can’t be given later. And coming up with a test is a long, arduous process.
I assume the three test dates are three different tests - anyone know for sure.
The alternate qualifying process seems to be the way CB addresses it.
Cherry Creek and Douglas County? If so, WOW!
@AlwaysMoving Yes, Cherry Creek and Douglas County Schools were affected.
Hopefully there is a way to make it work.
