So, am I daydreaming??

well, some of my friends are saying they are going to apply for Harvard whether there's any possibility of getting in just for the sake of "not regreting later" And who knows, if they get really lucky a miracle may happen lol.

What does Harvard value the most? I know of course it's academic, but as an ESL student who graduated middle school in another country, I think I have done a pretty decent job and improved really rapidly during my high school year. Please don't laugh at me :-( I know, it's "Harvard."

from ESL to the most rigorous program available in the school, it's all done in less than 2and 1/2 years. On SAT math scored almost 800 and reading and writing i'm definitely improved on those since the last time i took them. Im gonna take SAT subject tests as well. I took english classes one year ahead of my grade(Jr ENG in sophomor year, Sr ENG in my junior year) and still got A's. I'm actively involved in school play since sophomore year, drill team since junior year, math team, lots of church community service hours, BBBS volunteering, key club, though lacking a leadership experiences. So, if I sell my rapid improvement and being motivated and having a high potential and all, what do you think about my chance of getting in Harvard?

It's all random, but here's another question. I'm planning on going into the medical field as my career. Would Wheaton College in Chicago be a good coice for me?

I'm not following the name or anything. i know the best school for me is the one that fits me the most, but JUST wondering. Please leave me some comments!!!

Harvard is not an unrealistic possibility for you. It should be your highest reach. Wheaton College might be a reasonable safety. You need a few more colleges in between. There are many colleges that successfully place students into medical school.

Because there is a fairly good chance that you will change majors/career goals down the line, don't necessarily focus only on how well a school places it's pre-meds. Consider the overall package.

You sound like a great student and like someone who has good chances at a lot of the top 25 research universities and top LACs.

Wheaton is a good school for pre-med, BUT make sure your religious beliefs conform with theirs. There are better choices if you are not a religiously conservative Christian.

Wheaton is extremely conservative and strict, so make sure you're okay with that. Also, while Wheaton has a beautiful campus, it is by no means in Chicago (I'm from Chicago), and therefore not much to do. (you can take the Metra Train to Chicago...not far).

Good luck with Harvard!!!!

Hmm...you're not doing the full IB Diploma, are you? Why not? I really don't mean to be rude, but I think Harvard will want to know too-they expect the most rigorous courseload available.

oh, yeahh. i really wish i could be a diploma candidate. but i didn't take all the pre IB courses and foreign LANG. since my native language fulfills that.
