<p>Seems like that's true for some schools...if you look at the Harvey Mudd board, a lot of people have been waitlisted.</p>
<p>You've not mentioned another highly probable option: accepting more, and also waitlisting more.</p>
<p>Actually the real option is that they're guessing more.</p>
<p>I don't think there is any singular approach admissions is taking, just that they all know their previous data is not very helpful.</p>
