So... Dorm or Commuting?

I need some help deciding whether or not to dorm (in Lander - my first pick) or commute 12 miles via bus/car. What are the pro/cons to each, and what personally would you do?

I’m personally going to dorm on campus since I don’t have a home to live at anyway (I rent a room) and I plan to have a 7:30am class (it’s the only section available of a class I’m required to take next quarter.) Waking up at 7 is going to be hard enough; if I have to wake up even earlier to commute, I don’t think I’d ever make it to class.

So, basically i think it depends on your schedule and your personal preferences. I do not like waking up early, so living on campus is better for me, because it won’t take me as much time to get to class. Also, living costs are a consideration for me. Living on campus vs. elsewhere is not a big difference for me, so I want to live on campus. But if you can live somewhere for free, that might be preferable, because it will save you a lot of money. Those are some of many factors to take into consideration; overall, it depends on what you personally prefer to do.

Another thing you may want to think about is the social aspects of dorming. By staying in the dorms you’ll meet so many new people (not that you won’t in just your classes) but a lot of the time people make some of their beat friends at their schools by dorming.

I think you should live in the dorm for at least freshman year to get the whole experience. Maybe you’ll find it better than renting an apartment
