So, how exactly does course registration with CAESAR work?

I know, I know, we freshmen don't register for our courses until late September during Freshman Orientation.

But I looked at the course listings on CAESAR anyway. When do upperclassmen start registering for fall courses? If a course is listed and its status says "closed," does that mean there are no more spots left for that course, or has it just not opened yet for registration?

Anything else anybody knows about CAESAR and would like to share would be mighty appreciated too . . . :)

Fall reg is different because everyone has already registered except the freshmen. If a class under Fall 2007 says closed, it is closed and has already filled up with upperclassmen. Sometime during new student week you will have a registration day and time based on your student ID #. At that time, if you login to CAESAR and click Enrollment, it will let you start to add classes- from then on you can do so. If you try even a minute before your allotted time it will say "You do not have a valid appointment time."

During most quarters, you will register the same week everyone does, except freshmen still register last (except for people with special permission, etc.) and you will get pre-registration access. I don't think you get pre-reg during NSW.

Thanks for the info!

Now with the student ID number . . . freshmen just got information in the mail about when we get our Wildcards. Based on your last name, you get your ID on a certain day of New Student Week. Since my last name is at the end of the alphabet and I don't get my ID until September 24, does that mean I get the very last pick for course selection? Is that how it works?

I'm pretty sure Wildcard numbers are random. And registration is only based on the last two digits of your ID number, and the order of reg changes every quarter. So even if you are last this quarter (which is unknown now) you will be either first or in the middle next quarter, and then you will be the final option in the spring.
