So, how was Wildcat Days??

Going on Monday, the 27th - what was good - what was bad??

The weather was awful, but it’s shaping up to be a lot nicer, if yet again rainy, on this coming Monday.

Yea, the weather was not so great, but if you’re planning on going to Northwestern I suppose that’s something you have to get used to anyways. I had visited twice before, so a lot of the info sessions seemed like a repetitive sales pitch to me, but if you’ve never been they might be helpful. The highlight of my visit was definitely the dinner with the students. They were able to answer a lot of the questions that I didn’t feel comfortable with asking in huge info sessions and alleviate a lot of my doubts and worries about NU.

the weather wasn’t great but i still loved the school.
same with ilak, the info sessions were meh. average. didn’t get me too excited. what REALLY got me excited was the activities fair and then dinner with the students!! everyone just seemed so excited and the dinner was great (food-wise) but also really helpful. i came out SO excited to go!!

To be up-front about it, on Prospie visiting days the food in the dining halls gets better.

But not so much better, so don’t worry.

To tell you the truth, the info sessions are kind of lame; you’d get much more information from a current student; get lost and explore! I didn’t get convinced to go to NW from an info session, I got convinced by a student that took me aside and gave me a tour and sat down with me for like an hour and just talked about NW.

For those of you who went already, if any of you were there for the School of Communications - did they break off into majors during the three hour session? Did they offer a tour of the Theatre and Interpretation Center for theatre majors? Was one day sufficient or should we plan on the second (optional) day?

My daughter has three college choices and has little time to decide so we’re hoping to have all her questions answered with regards to Northwestern on Monday.

@ amtc - I went for the School of Communication last week. They did break off into majors, though I’m in Communication Studies, so I couldn’t tell you about the Theatre and Interpretation Center. The one day would be sufficient especially if a) your daughter signed up for dinner with the students (that was really helpful) and b) you’re planning on taking time out of all the scheduled info sessions to just wander around and see some things you want to see and talk to students.

I did stay for the second day mostly because my dad wanted to talk to someone in administration. I didn’t want to deal with all that, so I found a class to sit in on. That wasn’t necessarily crucial though.

I’m also choosing between three schools. It’s intense. Northwestern is the clear choice for me, but money’s making me hesitate. Good luck!

I’m not sure about her signing up for dinner with a student - isn’t that just part of Wildcat Days or did you have to do something special?

You had to check yes on the sign up I think. Regardless, when you register in the morning, they’ll probably ask if you registered for the dinner. Just say yes and get a meal ticket. Shouldn’t be a big deal.
In fact, in the group I was in going to the dining hall, several people had missed getting meal tickets and there was a lady there with extras.
