My class is rediculously smart. There is not even a comparison between our class and the last few classes which have graduated from my school. My question is that, since my class is very top heavy, how bad would not being in the top 10% affect me. Right now im in the 10-20% range, so yea, will Cornell take the quality of a class as a whole into account when evaluating an applicant, or will they simply go by past numbers. any info you might hav would b greatly appreciated

i had the same problem...ridiculously smart class this year, bringing GPA cutoffs for top 10% up and everything...but i still got in ED with top 20% rank. idk if that helps...

it does, thanks man

yeah i go to a ridiculously competitive school where a 4.2 gets you barely top 25%. i think i was something like top 30 or 40% and i got in ED. they dont look at class rank nearly as much as how hard you tried in your class. dont worry about it.

The only thing top heavy about my last school was the girls. Damn I miss them.

^ rofl.....

okay, Madden Bus... nice play on words.........

yea my school is pretty ridiculous in the same way (i have heard my town has the greatest concentration of phd's in the nation...), but since most schools have their admissions people look at apps by region they will know that your school is really competitive. look at it as a strength, they know you're used to a competitive environment.

apparently everyone on CC has the same problem

there is nothing much you can do now though

well, SATs will show where you stand in the general pre-college population :)
and if you are really smart and really dedicated, you'll be successful regardless of where you go to college.

hey newby are you reapplying again this year?

hey dionysus, definitely reapplying again, hopefully i'll have better luck this year.
