So I have this ECA that I started only recently but I absolutely love...

I heard from a few reliable sources on here (can't remember who but it was either an ad. officer or alum) that MIT really only cares about your dedication to your ECAs - as in, how many years you've done them, rather than 300 that you really don't half care about. Fair enough, it's very logical. However, I have this one ECA that I started this (senior) year [scouts]. I'd been considering it for the past two years but never really tried to get in for what seemed valid reasons at the time but now seem mundane. Anyway, back to the point, I really love the scouts community I'm in, and even in the short months I've been in it, I've managed to come to love it, it's actually taught me values in an amazingly short time (usually it'd take a much longer time to teach me stuff about values), I've made many friends there, and it's become one of my favorite ECAs.

Worth mentioning it on the application? Or should I go with things I've been doing longer (that I love as well, but perhaps not as much.) I know if I use it in an essay it would turn out great, but I'm worried the admissions office might see it as sort of too quick to be true as usually you'd need to be years into such a thing to love it that much.

Obviously, I'm applying RD.

Thanks in advance! :D

If you think it’s really awesome, you should put it on your application. IIRC, you’re supposed to list the activities that are the most important to you, not the activities that you think will be the most noteworthy for the admissions committee :)

i think you can still put it on. i put one activity on my app that i only started this year.
