so i just visited CSULB...

...and absolutely hated everything about it. haha.

there were no organized tours and we were left to fend for ourselves around the campus. it was not a friendly atmosphere, and (i'm not racist lol just saying) i was one of maybe 5 white kids that i saw walking around campus.

overall, i just felt very unwelcome.

anyone else feel the same way?

oh really? i visited the campus last year August and I though that it was a pretty awesome place. I really liked the long beach area in general, and to me it looked like the majority of students were white, but there were also a crapp load of mexicans, and not very many black students. (i am not racist either haha).

I think you can do an organized tour, but frankly the campus is so large it might be easier to just go to the buildings that interest you. CSULB is an awesome campus.

maybe for certain departments, but when we called them up and asked to join an organized tour the lady said, “we don’t need those, we have a beach nearby.” haha so i wasn’t too impressed with that.

CSULB disappoints me… why did I even apply? lol jk.
was it really that bad?

In 2007 my son went there for his first year as a mechanical engineer and he transferred out and went to Cal Poly Pomona. Then again that’s for engineering, maybe other majors are better. Good luck.

I absolutely agree about the tour. I live about fifteen minutes away from CSULB and I figured I would take a tour and hopefully find something that I may like about it that I didn’t already know, except all I got was a short walk with three stops and them just pointing at stuff saying “…and that’s the engineering building over there somewhere behind that one.” It’s the worst college tour I have ever been on and the campus is really not that great. The only upside to the place is that it’s close to the beach (I’m not a beach type person though) and a short drive away from home.

good to know i wasn’t the only once who wasn’t satisfied, i was afraid maybe i’d been a bit judgemental…guess not lol

you guys are spoiled… If they’re pavements, tarred roads, decent grass on fields, a low % chance of being hijacked while walking on the road, nice buildings and blondes, i’d be more than happy…LOL

I heard that Long Beach had a pretty campus. I don’t know how nice the surrounding area is, but I hope the school is nice.

use GOOGLE STREET VIEW HAHA!

idk if you’re joking but that’s actually a good idea hahahha

I don’t really care much about who else goes there, but when I visited, there was a TON of white people! LOL lots of every color, but about 50-60% were white!

The school is nice, the area is decent, but its a great school and a great value. That’s whats important to me.

Im going to visit today to take my ELM test.
I hope I don’t get lost!

@ footballfeldey
strange you would say that. thats all i see, white people. the person who brought up black people is right, they are rare at campus, despite the fact they have karenga the guy that created kwanza and one of the early black studies program. anyways, of course it will have lots of latinos(not as much as whites) because asians populate all the UC’s. just see irvine.

i just applied there, the only time ive ever been to the campus was warped tour like 2003-4 i cant remeber… its a pretty big campus… really close to the beach which is awesome!

i just applied there…
