So I Would Have Gone to Yale, But...

Good thing I’m applying SCEA, then, eh, princessbell?

Blame my mother.

Perhaps, but that is essentially saying America’s status as a democracy is more important than America’s status as a Republic. Would you have put school desegregation to a vote in the South during the Civil Rights movement? Of course not. When it comes to the rights of a minority group (and gays do indeed fall into this category, no matter if you are pro- or anti- gay marriage) the issue must be left up to the courts, because allowing the majority to simply decide will crush minority groups.

It’s a fact, and without it, we wouldn’t have inter-racial marriage, school desegregation, and women’s suffrage (okay, not a minority, but a disenfranchised group). Perhaps HUAC would still exist!

Allowing the will of the majority to decide the fate of the minority is wrong: without the courts and higher bodies, we’d be a backwards-facing wreck of a bigoted country.

Sorry for the rant, but America’s obsession with democracy can drive me crazy. It’s important for keeping dictators out of power, but since when were the common people of a country making decisions for the GOOD of the country and society?

I’m finished. Continue with the regular discussion.

haha, “eh” is actually one of my favorite 2 letter words. It reminds me of Great Britain and tea and the film Once. you’re back in my good graces, ironmetal :).

I would have gone to Yale, but:

-Rory Gilmore already graduated.
-I look fat in navy blue.
-for my own sanity I cannot live in the same state as OCD Martha Stewart.
-I won’t settle for a faux Oxbridge
-my odds of gaining my MRS degree are slim: “1in 4 maybe more, 1 in 2 maybe you”
-Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull gave me nightmares.
-Taylor McKessie from HSM3 decides to go there–gag me.
-an owl delivered my acceptance letter to Hogwarts.

And after writing all of these, Yale is still my number 1!

haha, i loved all of those so much…

I would have gone to Yale, but Connecticut is too big of a state.

I would have gone to Yale, but If you take away the first letter you get “ale”.

How would it sound to go to “Ale Unviersity”?

JKxD

I would have gone to Yale but in the interview I recounted about how last week, I saw a film, (as I recall it was a horror film), and I walked outside into the rain, checked my phone and saw who rang and I…

Someone get the reference, please.

Sorry, I’m out in the cold to that reference. xP

So…imagine ‘that’ happening in the interview.

I can’t even begin to imagine how someone would deal with ‘that’ happening.

… but Elihu is a weird name. Seriously, who names their kid Elihu?

…I have to get in first. ;)

I’d rather have my son named “Elihu” than “John” you know? lol

Haha, yes, Elihu does bring something a little more interesting to the table…

So, i would’ve gone to yale, but the WashU Discovery Weekend in Sept was just so Badass that I had to stay in STL.

im waiting to see if someone gets the reference, since i have a hunch tht a few CCers (is that the right term) went to that same weekend thing.

…it’s too cold.

lol at the SNL reference

@Illuminar/OneKingoneLife:

Honestly, if I were an interviewer and that happened, I think I would write the candidate a good review based on their incredible virility.

I’d write: Take him, most incredible applicant ever.

…they refused to make Po the Panda their mascot.

:( Darn.
