So little aid, so many loans

I’ve been stressing out for weeks. (Okay, a week and a half but it has felt longer). My EFC is enormous and I’m afraid I will end up not being able to go…but I want to so bad, I need to… I have been waiting for this for too long.

I am ready to jump in and figure things out as I go along. It would be comforting to know I am not the only one doing this.

So. Anyone else in my position? Where you know you (and your family) in no way have the money or financial aid to pay but believe in the end all the loans and work-study (or just work, if you aren’t eligible for some bizarre reason) will be worth it?

that means start working on those scholarships. there are alot of money out there for you to take. nothing is impossible. start with fastweb.com. lots of people/ companies are eager to give away money to students.

dont worry, you are not the only one. i know its very stressing. i am constantly thinking about how i cannot afford to go there.
my efc is high too and i am getting 0 financial aid
loans are a good option and i suggest u work (like me) full time this summer and ask your parents for some help
=)

My parents really don't have much help to give me. =/

And I will definitely be working full time during the summer and saving up as well as working on scholarships.

Yay I'm not alone!

haha
i was really depressed these past few weeks because of the cost. but i've tried to convince myself that its the not the end of the world.
it wont be bad even if you graduate with some debt cuz you'd have a nice 60k/yr job :D

and also u can find cheap housing outside of campus your sophomore+ years
i am gonna do the same thing

Exactly. It's not the end of the world, many are in the same situation, it's worth it, freshman year will be the priciest since after that you can find cheap housing and you'll be aware of more resources for financial aid.

And it's worth it.

What do you want to study?

i got accepted under mechanical engineering but not so sure of it
i wanna change my major to bioengeering since i have have transferable units in biotech and calculus
i am really trying to graduate in three years
since ever year = 20k atleast =|

Wow, that seems like a very challanging major.

20k is a lot of money. And the entire loans process seems so complicated and confusing. Hopefully it becomes more clear once we're at school and just moving through it.

u think u got it bad girl, i'm out of states and even with 0 EFC i only got 22k f. aid. 5.5k of it is loans. total cost = around 45k so i still gotta pay 23k a year. and thats not even counting the loans -_-

Out-of-state fees are unbelievable. O.o But at least you're paying nearly as an In-State student. 22k financial aid is a lot.

Still very expensive though.
