So looks like I'm going to be a Bruin, what do I do first?

Ok, so I want my college experience to start off with a bang academically, socially, wtv-lly. So, I was wondering what steps I should take to get an advantage on others. I don't want to enter UCLA and be like "d'oh why didn't I do that... I'm screwed already" you know?

So, anyways.. what do I do first?

Wondering how many GE credits I need, etc., etc.?

and side question: Should I apply for the Honors Program? Thanks for the responses :D

First thing is to sign up for an early summer orientation session. They are 3 days long and run all through the summer starting in July and ending late August. You sign up for all your fall classes at orientation so the earlier you go the better. The counselors work with you over those 3 days to help choose your fall classes. You will be put into groups by major so they can really help you. I believe sign ups will begin early June. You will be getting all the info soon.
If you go to the main UCLA website and search for general education requirements you can get all the info. I know other posters have provided links to that here but I don’t have that info. For the Collage of Letters and Science 10 courses are required. You might want to do a Frashman Cluster which is a year long group of classes on one subject. You are with the same students for the year and get tons of requirements taken care of by taking the cluster. My daughter is in her final quarter of her cluster (she is a freshman) and has really enjoyed her cluster (Global Environment). This past Sat. her seminar group (only 20 students) went on a field trip to an aquarium and tide pools at the beach. You will soon get info on Clusters too.
For now just get on the UCLA website and start exploring. Go visit the school again. And read and ask questions here. Read the main threads at the top of this forum ( How to be successful at UCLA and the housing thread). I think there is a thread going about easy GE classes. My daughter is loving UCLA so get ready for hard work but tons of fun!
