Along with being a true genius, he was just unbelievably kind, compassionate, funny, and ineffably sweet.

Thanks for posting this, jym.

Oh no. His writing was magnificent, but he has such high standards for himself and everyone else -- just what I get from his writing. So sorry Harriet, it is all of our loss. And the Pomona community too, at such a tiny school.

jym, You have gone through quite a bit with suicide lately too. An extra hug for you.

Thanks, Harriet and myth. Fortunately this one doesnt touch me personally-- but I feel badly for the Claremont and the writiing communities. Sympathies to all of you.

Very sad indeed. Such a literary talent. Makes you wonder what brought him to such deep despair as to take his life. Very sad.

An incredible loss. He seemed to have successfuly overcome so much in his life so it is a shock. He gave so much of himself to students at the school.
My son knew him and said he was not only extremely talented but a very giving and considerate human being. I feel for his family.

The Claremonts suffered another loss when a senior at CMC died in the Metrolink accident. It's been a difficult week out there.
