Ok so here is my situation. I just finished up my second year at UCI and am still contemplating transferring to the University of Colorado at Boulder for fall. Since I kinda procrastinated, this is my only real option left for transferring. As for UCI, I don't really like it. There is no social life here, everyone goes home on the weekends, and there is little to do around here as far as nightlife if you aren't 21. Although I have made some good friends here during the past two years, I just feel as though this school is really boring and I am missing out on the "college experience." In order to try and become more involved on campus and meet more people, I joined several clubs this past year and became involved in them. Although that has made it slightly better here, I am still not really happy. Also, being from the So Cal area all of my life, I feel sick of the atmosphere here (and the superficiality of everyone) and kinda want a change. I visited some friends at Boulder several times and loved the atmosphere there, the campus, and the people there. However, this means that I would be transferring to a less academically presitigous school, which might hurt my chances of getting into law school. Also, I would have to work to help offset some of the higher tuition rate. I know that no one anything says can really make me make my decision either way, but what is everyone's advice on this? I really appreciate any input. Thanks for reading this.

It's hard to say whether or not you should do it. I think the decision should be based on whether your need for a better social life- or college experience- is worth transferring to a less academically prestigious school. If you feel that you can wait it out and deal with the situation at UCI, then you should stay- just for the law school thing. But if you feel that enjoying yourself while still doing great in college is more important then go for boulder. Besides, I highly doubt that Law School will penalize you for this if you explain in your personal essay ( I am not sure if Law School has this or any version of it) why you transferred and if you maintain an excellent academic record at boulder....that's just my two cents worth!

Do it...you'll end up regretting not having the "college experience" later on in life...
