Should I do it?

I'm a freshman at the University of Missouri. I'm from Colorado Springs and finding that I really do miss the outdoor culture of Colorado and am wishing to transfer to CU Boulder at semester. The way I see it, I'm not loosing anything academically and, seeing as I plan to live in Colorado when I graduate, I'm not closing any doors here. Some agree and some don't. Is the transfer process more pain than it's worth?

You could give it some more time as transfer applications aren’t usually due until late winter. If you still feel the same, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t submit a transfer application to CU, one application is not a huge burden if you’re really not happy at Mizzou. If you’re admitted, you always have until the end of the school year to see how you’re feeling.

It may be a little tougher socially, going as a soph, I can’t see too many other potential negatives.

Thanks for the response. I submitted an application, but as you said, I have a while to decide what to do.

Transferring isn’t really that difficult - just be certain to call CU and verify that they have received everything and that your application is complete. I had some issues with one of my schools not sending out my transcripts to one of the schools I applied to (even though they had indeed been paid for), and luckily I called to find this out before the deadlines. If you don’t like their offer from CU, you could always stay where you are at or consider other options later down the road.

I’m in a similar situation in that I simply think I’d be happier in my home state. Also going to a state school is more practical financially and logistically for me. I think I’m going to wait and see how the rest of the semester goes before I do anything, though. Good luck :)
